AIRCRAFT: 1994 Beech A36 N820GH, s/n E-2870 The last Annual Inspection was performed 11/15/15 at Tach/Total Time 9,674.3. Current Total Time reported as 9701.6
ENGINE: Continental IO-550B, s/n 1003483, with the last Annual Inspection on 11/15/15 at ETT 1185.6. The engine was installed on 01/21/2011 at Engine Total Time 0.0 and "Hobbs" 8488.7.
PROPELLER: McCauley D3A32C409-C, s/n: 940834, last Annual Inspection 11/15/15 at Tach 9674.3, TSMOH 1185.6
EQUIPMENT:
DESCRIPTION OF TWO INCIDENTS & RESULTING DAMAGE. Damage includes but may not be limited to the items listed.
#1 - On 12/06/16, N820GH was undergoing de-fueling operations for a STC installation calibration of a new fuel management system, a spark generated from a jack that was kicked and ignited the fuel draining from the left tank.
DAMAGE: Inboard wing skins and the left forward skin were damaged and burned, as well as the left inboard gear door and jack point cover.
#2 - On 12/22/16, an attempt was made to pull N820GH forward, resulting in the jack tipping and the aircraft dropping to the floor.
DAMAGE: Prop strike suspected. The right aileron, left elevator, left horizontal stabilizer, tail tie down, and a communication antenna all sustained damage.
LOCATION OF AIRCRAFT: Enclosed, locked hangar at Merritt Island Airport, Florida
REMARKS: Avionics were removed and are securely stored. The interior had been removed and stored in a location separate from the aircraft when the events occurred.
