DESCRIPTION OF ACCIDENT: On 03/28/20, N954DF was parked inside a hangar at Jonesboro Municipal Airport (KJBR) when a tornado pushed the hangar doors into the left side of the aircraft. The force of impact also shoved the aircraft sideways to the right causing the right wing to strike other objects and part of the hangar structure. One of the hangar doors struck the left wing and the empennage.
DESCRIPTION OF DAMAGES: Damage includes but may not be limited to:
Fuselage/Empennage: The hangar door destroyed the empennage. It nearly separated the tail from the fuselage. The fuselage is buckled aft of the cabin area on both sides. The horizontal stabilizers were destroyed. Given the extent of the damage to the empennage, it was removed from the fuselage with a hot saw. Please see post-recovery photos for details.
Wings: The left wing was damaged by the hangar door and the right wing was severely damaged when the aircraft was shoved into a hangar support beam and other objects. Given the fact that both wings were damaged beyond repair, both were removed from the aircraft at the fuselage with a hot saw. Please see the post-recovery photos for details.
Props/Engines: There is no indication that the aircraft’s right prop was damaged in any way. There is a dent on the outboard side of the forward part of the right engine nacelle. One blade on the left propeller is bent and there is a gouge in the leading edge.
Control Surfaces: The left aileron is destroyed. The left outboard flap sustained minor damage, however, the inboard flap was destroyed. Both flaps on the right side sustained impact damage that resulted in bending of the trailing edges. Rudder and elevators were destroyed.
